Did the word “ energized” come to mind? After all, coming into such an inviting space does kind of make you want to throw yourself into enjoying your night, doesn’t it? Of those, “tired” probably headed the list. In the second situation, you might have felt somewhat differently. In the first situation, you might get several feelings while reading it. What’s even more interesting is how these different situations affect our energy levels and ability to focus. Our homes truly do dictate our moods and even our mental states. Get help creating your decluttered space. Which scenario would rather come home to? How does each scenario make you feel inside? Consider the emotions each situation creates. As you step further into the house you note the pattern of the rug and smile for it’s something you picked out special just for this place. Most of your belongings are organized and in their designated space, which means you know exactly where to look to find a book you were planning to settle into and read for the evening. Upstairs you know you’ll find clean clothes, something more comfortable to change into after your long day at work. Pillows plumped on the couch inviting you to sit down. When you look around you note the touches of a home: fresh flowers on the hall table. In the kitchen, you can smell dinner cooking in the slow cooker. You step through the door into a comfortable and cozy sanctuary. As you step further into the house your foot comes into contact with a discarded boot, nearly tripping you. There are random piles of things scattered throughout the place cluttering up your space and at-home experience. You can clearly see the pile of laundry waiting to be sorted on the couch. The mail has been dumped on the hall table so many times it’s now cascading to the floor.
